With modern technology as advanced as it is now, online lessons can be every bit as productive as lessons in person.
I've been teaching for 7 years and currently teach at Hurstpierpoint College and have a private pupils in person. However if you'd like lessons and are not within reach of the Surrey, England where I'm based, online lessons are a fantastic option. They make finding time for a lesson easier and I can be far more flexible with days and times as it removes the need for travel to and from lessons.
My preferred app is Skype. I send the sound from my room through an Aston Spirit Microphone so you get excellent sound quality your end. Skype also allows you to record lessons so pupils can watch lessons back for reminders on anything we have covered, I find this an extremely useful tool! You can also make Paypal payments over Skype and I can type lesson notes into our chat so everything is in one place.
All you need for lessons is your violin and a laptop, tablet or even phone with the Skype app and account. I can then send music through to you or let you know which books to purchase.
My approach to teaching is very much led by your needs. I'm able to teach all levels from total beginner to advanced and of course all ages! I'm very comfortable teaching the grade syllabuses but am also happy to focus on more popular music if you're looking to enjoy playing specific songs. I try to maintain a good balance of musicality and technique as I believe they are equally as important in creating a good musician!
Lessons can be 30, 40 or 60 minutes. Longer for more advanced pupils if necessary.
I am fully DBS checked through my school.
